Bothered by scalp flaking and itching? You may have seborrhoeic dermatitis

Seborrhoeic dermatitis
Seborrhoeic dermatitis is a common inflammatory skin disease that causes dandruff and/or redness on the scalp, eyebrows, corners of the nose and ears.

The most common forms of the disease are:

    • In the first 3 months of life
    • As a teenager
    • 40-60 years of age

The severity of the disease can vary from mild, when patients complain only of dandruff, to more severe, when they are bothered by intense itching and redness.

Seborrhoeic dermatitis
Seborrhoeic dermatitis
Seborrhoeic dermatitis is caused by the overgrowth of the Malassezia fungus, which lives naturally on our skin.

Influences on the disease include:

    • Increased oiliness of the skin
    • Individual predisposition and familial inheritance
    • Weakening of the immune system
    • Fatigue, lack of sleep

Specialised skin care products from the pharmacy can help you if you experience the symptoms mentioned above.
